Say it ain’t so! NS cancels cheaper group tickets

ATTENTION TO MY FELLOW STUDENT SCAMMERS. The NS group ticket is no more. For those who have been blissfully unaware of this wonderful loophole, the group ticket enabled you to travel anywhere in the Netherlands for just 7 euro’s, without actually physically being with that group of passengers. You could just link up with random people in a special Facebook group, buy the tickets and part ways right there and then.

Too much ‘fraud’

According to recent figures, Dutch railway company NS missed 2,4 million euros each year. This is why they’ve now cancelled the group return ticket and will replace it with a shittier, pricier version from January 15th onwards.

Previously, a return ticket for 10 people was 70 euro’s. Now, the price will be increased to 126 euro’s (!!!!!!) This is because the new tickets will allow a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 7 passengers traveling together. Plus, you have to actually travel together. Also, you’re not allowed to use the new ticket during the afternoon rush-hour.

Thanks, NS. 😒

So, if you want to explore the far corners of the Netherlands (insider tip: Groningen), you still have about two weeks to make the most of the loophole. Check out Facebook groups like these & book your final group ticket!
